Casavogue Reaches 54 Years in Montreal, with Italian Craftsmanship at the Centre of Its Showroom

Fifty-four years after the Territo family opened its doors, Italian craftsmanship remains at the core of the Saint-Michel showroom.

Everything the family has built started with craftsmanship, and that is still the first thing we look for.”

MONTRéAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, August 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Casavogue, the family-owned furniture retailer at 8260 boulevard Saint-Michel, reaches its 54th year of operation in 2026. The store, opened in 1972 by Calogero and Francesca Territo, is marking the year by placing renewed emphasis on the craftsmanship behind the Italian and Canadian brands it carries, and on the Made-in-Italy manufacturing that has defined its buying since the beginning.

Casavogue was founded by Calogero and Francesca Territo, a young couple from the Sicilian town of Ribera who had settled in Montreal. The business began in the back of a furniture workshop in 1972, decades before the arrival of the concept-store retail model, and its early years were spent in the practical work of building, finishing and selling furniture. The company has remained family-owned and family-operated since.

Over five decades the business grew from that workshop into a 38,000-square-foot showroom presenting living, dining and bedroom furniture in complete room settings rather than in stock aisles, with customers guided in person by family members and staff. That approach has changed little since 1972. Nor has the emphasis on Italian manufacturing. Made-in-Italy furniture remains the core of the floor, selected for its craftsmanship, quality of construction and design, and it is complemented by a selection of Canadian brands. Between them the showroom covers classic, contemporary and modern styles, allowing customers to furnish an entire home in one place.

Calligaris is one of the Italian houses represented on the floor. Founded in 1923 in Manzano, in northeastern Italy, the company began as a chair manufacturer and continues to produce in Italy today, with collections that pair Italian design with practical engineering; extendable dining tables, modular seating and storage built for contemporary homes. In its materials, its finishing and its attention to how a piece will actually be used, Calligaris reflects the philosophy Casavogue was founded on.

The same attachment to Italian craftsmanship shaped what the family did next. Working from what Casavogue had taught them about Italian manufacturing, David Territo and his wife, Liv Siv-Ing, opened Maison Territo, an evolved showroom concept in Montreal built around renowned Italian and international design houses. Casavogue remains the family’s original business, and the foundation the newer showroom was raised on.

“Everything the family has built started with craftsmanship, and that is still the first thing we look for,” said Liv Siv-Ing of Maison Territo. “Casavogue is where we learned what Made in Italy actually means.”

Fifty-four years in business is, for the Territo family, a measure of the work behind Casavogue, decades spent bringing carefully selected Italian furniture to Montreal, and building the legacy that became the foundation for Maison Territo.
