New report marks 37 years of environmental and social progress as the newly employee-owned brand sets out its next phase of impact
BRISTOL, United Kingdom, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Natracare, the pioneer in plastic-free period and personal care, has published its first-ever Impact Report, revealing that 10 million plastic applicators were avoided through the use of its cardboard applicators during the 2025/26 financial year, while the carbon impact of its pads has fallen 44% since 2010.
The 2025/26 Impact Report brings together Natracare’s environmental, social and ethical performance across its products, supply chain, workplace, community and campaigning work. It also spotlights the company’s commitments and priorities for the years ahead.
Founded in 1989 by environmental activist Susie Hewson, Natracare was created to challenge the use of plastic, synthetic materials and unnecessary chemicals in period products. Thirty-seven years later, the company continues to campaign for greater transparency and stronger standards across the period and personal care industry.
Turning Purpose Into Progress
During the 2025/26 financial year, Natracare sold 11.5 million product packs worldwide. Additional highlights include:
- Natracare’s cardboard applicator avoided 10 million plastic applicators.
- 44% reduction in the carbon dioxide impact of Natracare pads since 2010.
- 188 tonnes of cardboard saved to date through packaging redesign.
- The equivalent of 24 million plastic bags avoided in the supply chain through plastic-free products.
- $297,983.87 USD given to good causes during the year.
- Natracare products available in more than 80 countries.
- As a member of 1% for the Planet, Natracare has donated more than $1.761 million USD for initiatives and causes supporting the environment, education and health.
- Became B Corp Certified in 2024 with a score of 115.1.
Natracare also completed its first full measurement of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and is now developing a Climate Action Plan and future emissions targets. This work will deepen its understanding of its environmental footprint and help guide its next phase of climate action.
“Publishing our first Impact Report is an important milestone for Natracare,” said Nina Davies, CEO of Natracare. “It allows us to be transparent and track our progress, where we still have work to do, and how we intend to keep moving forward. As a newly employee-owned business, that commitment now belongs to all of us. Natracare has always challenged what is considered ‘normal’ in our industry, and that spirit of change remains at the heart of our future.”
Impact beyond products
The report also examines Natracare’s impact on its people and communities. 87% of employees say they are proud to work at Natracare, with workplace commitments including a Period and Menopause Policy, support for employees experiencing period pain, flexible and hybrid working, mental health first aiders and paid volunteering days.
Natracare continues to advocate for greater transparency and meaningful action against greenwashing across the period and personal care industry.
A New Chapter for Natracare
The publication of the Impact Report comes at a significant moment in Natracare’s history. In March 2026, Bodywise UK Ltd, the company behind Natracare, completed its transition to an Employee Ownership Trust, giving employees a greater stake in the business’s future. The company also appointed Nina Davies as CEO.
The move to employee ownership marks a new chapter for the business while building on the principles that have shaped Natracare since its founding: environmental responsibility, social impact and challenging established industry practices. The Impact Report sets out Natracare’s commitment to continuing that work, with priorities including greater understanding of its environmental impact, continued investment in its people and communities and ongoing action to raise standards across the industry.
